Disney to provide free shows on the net

An exciting new development in downloading video entertainment was reported earlier this month.

Disney is planning to provide copies of some of their hit tv shows on their website the day after they are aired. This would mean that you didn't need to set your VCR or your TiVo to record it, you could catch up with it later online.

The shows that have been mentioned include Lost and Desperate Housewives.

This service is likely to be free, paid for by ads that you are unable to fast-forward through - always a problem for TV networks with recording shows on your VCR.

This will be an interesting challenge for the telephone, cable and satellite companies to respond to - the experiment should start in May.
